Roberto Tirado: Head Coach

Baseball has been in my blood since day one! Growing up in a baseball family meant the game wasn’t just something we watched—it was a way of life. From a young age, I had a bat in my hands and dirt on my uniform, soaking up everything I could about the sport.

High school brought an incredible opportunity to learn the game at a deeper level through the Ripken Experience in Aberdeen, MD. There, I gained a true appreciation for discipline, repetition, and self-awareness—three keys to mastering the fundamentals. That foundation helped me take my game to the next level, playing college baseball. Sure, my college career was short (a solid season and a half), but those lessons stuck with me for life.

After hanging up my cleats, I embarked on a 23-year military career, but the gamenever left my heart.  Eventually, I became a father to a young girl who would one day ignite my passion for coaching the game of softball. Coaching became my passion, and I worked with youth, teens, and college players through an apprentice program. That’s where I truly honed my coaching philosophy—breaking the game down into simple, teachable moments that make learning both effective and fun.

For me, softball isn’t just about skill; it’s about understanding the "why" behind every move. I believe in a holistic approach—teaching players to see the game in smaller, digestible pieces so they can build confidence, improve weaknesses, and most importantly, enjoy the ride. The gamecomes with its own built-in pressure, but when players learn how to break things down and find the fix, the game becomes a whole lot more fun. And that’s what it’s all about!
